I enjoy watching football. In fact, for years my family has hosted a Super Bowl party. This year however; I was ready to cancel. I was truly disgusted with Michael Vick's dog fighting travesty. I could go on about the cruelty of it all, but that is only part of my disgust. I am also sickened by society's willingness to accept this man back into an all-American tradition.
He went from the bars of a cell to a multi-million dollar contract. Most convicts get a couple of bucks for a bus ticket or motel room. I could boycott football and the Super Bowl, but I doubt the NFL would call me asking me to please watch their games.
So, I'm going to do something positive and I encourage you all to do the same. This year, all who come to our Superbowl party must bring something to donate to our Humane Society in the name of those (both man and dog) who suffered so greatly. It's too late to help all those dogs who suffered and/or died from Vick's hand, but it isn't too late for those who wait for help or loving homes at the Humane Society. So, I'll be watching the Superbowl after all.
