A Rapid City police car received minor damage when a GMC Yukon it was pursuing rolled into it after the driver abandoned it around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Cole Glade, 30, of Pine Ridge ran right into the waiting arms of the Street Crimes Unit when he abandoned the vehicle, according to police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel.

Glade was one of 16 people arrested for driving under the influence over the weekend, according to Heupel.

Heupel said Glade was speeding when an officer attempted to stop him. He first stopped on Racine Street but drove off when the officer pulled up. The officer pursued Glade for several blocks before he again stopped and fled after the officer stepped out of his car.

Police were in the process of setting up perimeter to stop Glade when he abandoned the Yukon near Halley Avenue and Monroe Street, Heupel said.

In addition to the driving under the influence charge, Glade was arrested for aggravated eluding, driving with a revoked license and an outstanding warrant.
