Police said Wednesday that a 60-year-old woman was not telling the truth when she said a stranger stabbed her Tuesday night at an apartment complex in southwest Rapid City.

"Police are not searching for any suspects, and there is no danger to the public," police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel said Wednesday.

Police received a call about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday from Stoney Creek Highlands to report a stabbing in a garage at 2741 Belgarde Blvd.

Officers found a woman with a superficial wound to the stomach. At the time, the woman claimed an unknown man had attacked her.

The woman involved is being treated for a mental health issue and is not facing any charges, Heupel said.
