Public information session on Common Core set for Wednesday

Rapid City schools along with the South Dakota Department of Education is holding a public information session on the Common Core Standards on Wednesday

Melody Schopp, South Dakota Department of Education Secretary will make a presentation at the Rapid City High School Theater at 601 Columbus St. at 6 p.m.

The public will be invited to ask questions following the presentation until the session is expected to end at 8 p.m. 

Timothy Mitchell, Rapid City Area Schools Superintendent, will serve as moderator and other school staff members will be available to answer questions.

    What so horrible about common core most schools are already implementing it , common core is a great idea common core is not about obama it was not brought up by him it was brought by all the governors I bet a lot of you people will like it now huh , besides if your student transfers from a different state to here or vice versa they will know pick right up on from where they left off atfrom their other school this is what common core is about

    9 times out of ten, this is a lube job. Get you ready for the big change, again. Usually, these changes benefit the teachers unions and not so much for the students. Be there and see.

    Give the children's chance at great education go common core besides all the other states are doing it besides South Dakota and 5 pthers
