A Rapid City man died Saturday in a motorcycle crash about three miles west of Hill City.

Michael Thomas Marozzo, 27, was driving a 2008 Big Dog motorcycle east on Deerfield Road when he wrecked on a curve in the road, according to a news release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol

Around 4:15 p.m., the motorcycle left the road, traveled down an embankment and struck several trees, according to the highway patrol.

Marozzo was not wearing a helmet and was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital where he died, according to the highway patrol.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and the Hill City Volunteer Fire Department assisted the highway patrol, who is investigating the crash.
