SIOUX FALLS l South Dakota got a little national attention on Thanksgiving Day.

The state's "Mount Rushmore's American Pride" float made its third appearance in New York City's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The float was featured for about 30 seconds on NBC's broadcast of the parade.

The float featured Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Singer and songwriter Don McLean performed his 1971 hit "American Pie" while riding on the float.

Excellent exposure for the Black Hills. My sister on the east coast saw the parade, saw the float and loved it! She was a little upset that NBC cut away from Don McLean to go to Spiderman. Great stuff---great marketing!
