SIOUX FALLS - A lawsuit against the Gayville-Volin School District and superintendent over allegations of sexual misconduct has been scheduled for trial next summer.
The case was brought by a recent graduate who said she was seduced and assaulted by former teacher and coach Brad Oakley.
Defendants include the district and Superintendent Jason Selchert. A lawyer representing them said in court papers that the administration responded quickly and appropriately after learning of the sexual encounter between Oakley and the student at an athletic event in Brookings.
Oakley resigned in July 2005 and later voluntarily surrendered his state teaching certificate, and it was revoked.
The jury trial is scheduled to start July 8 in Sioux Falls.
