United Blood Services is appealing to donors after this week's winter storm canceled blood drives and collection efforts across the region.

“We are counting on the community right now to replenish the donations that were lost. The need for blood doesn’t stop for a storm, so it is vitally important that we stock the shelves to ensure that we have enough blood available for patients,” said Angelina Pillet, United Blood Services spokeswoman.

United Blood Services is located at 2209 West Omaha Street in Rapid City. To make an appointment or get more information, call 800-917-4929 or go to www.unitedbloodservices.org.
