A 19-year-old Rapid City man will serve two concurrent one-year jail sentences for spitting on an emergency medical technician who was trying to treat him after an accident.
Trey Wright was under state supervision when he crashed a vehicle on Feb. 18, 2012.
Wright was combative with law enforcement and an EMT who was attempting to treat his injuries.
After initially being charged with a felony, Wright pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, sliming and simple assault.
Wright is serving a 345-day jail term in connection with another incident.That sentence expires in May, but Wright will remain in custody to complete the remainder of the new sentence.
Circuit Judge Jeff Davis warned Wright, who is on work release, that if he violates the conditions of his sentence he will go to prison.
