VERMILLION | CorTrust Bank is giving the University of South Dakota $1.5 million for an athletic facility expansion plan that includes a 6,000-seat arena.
The project is in the final stages of being designed. It will include an outdoor track, a soccer complex and football practice fields, and will be the new home for the Coyotes basketball and volleyball teams.
The donation puts fundraising for the new facilities above the $50 million mark. Construction is to start in the fall and take about two years to complete.
CorTrust Bank CEO Jack Hopkins is a 1984 USD graduate. CorTrust also has had a marketing relationship with Coyote athletics since 1984.
The bank will receive naming rights to the club area of the new arena.
