STURGIS | Duane Everet Carstensen, 83, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at the Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Duane was born Dec. 16, 1933, to Louie and Frances (Lemaster) Carstensen in Piedmont. They then moved to a Centennial Valley farm-ranch near Spearfish. He graduated from the Laboratory School in Spearfish, after completing correspondence courses he operated Duane's TV and Appliances in Sturgis for over 40 years.
He married Ester Irene Stark, Sept. 15, 1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Esther Carstensen, Sturgis; sister, Verla Mae Weaver, Spearfish; nieces Tami Kovalick, Davidsonville, MD; and nephews Mark Weaver, Gettysburg, PA, and Elton Hochhalter, Boise, ID.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the Grace Lutheran Church, with visitation two hours prior. Burial will be at the Whitewood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Grace Lutheran Church.
