GILLETTE, Wyo. | Jimmy Dale Anderson, 74, died November 2, 2017, at his home in Gillette, WY.
Funeral services were held on November 8, 2017.
He was born in Deadwood, SD, on December 1, 1942, to Marvin and Mary (Michelson) Anderson. He attended grade school at the Lodge School in Hereford, SD. He graduated from Sturgis High School in Sturgis, SD, in 1960. He entered the US Navy June 9, 1960. He was honorably discharged October 4, 1963. He settled in Gillette, WY, in 1964. He retired in September 2008. He married Della Norfolk on February 4, 1967, in Gillette, WY. They divorced in May 1988.
He enjoyed reading, writing, reciting poetry and traveling. He had traveled to fifty states, eight countries, two crown colonies, and the District of Columbia. He was a 33-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous in Gillette. He was a 30-year member of New Life Church in Gillette.
He is survived by his special friend Betty Benedick and her family, son, Dean Norfolk, daughter, Jolene Leonard, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two sisters; Dorothy Ogaard of Belle Fourche, SD, and Sally Wiechman of Scott City, KS.
The family has requested that memorials be made in Jimmy's name to District #3 A.A., P.O. Box 3716, Gillette, WY 82717.
