Letter writer wrong to target guns

A while back a letter to the editor was published about gun violence. The writer kept referring to innocent victims and how everything was the fault of the availability of guns. He did make a point when he stated that the rhetoric of Second Amendment supporters is: "guns don't murder people, people murder people.”

A good example is: A gun was set on the front porch along with ammunition and many people walked by it and the gun didn't kill anyone. An example of the Texas church shooting is this: The Air Force didn't report to the FBI that the shooter was convicted of domestic violence and had been in a mental facility. Those two things right there disqualified the shooter from buying a gun; so the fault wasn't of the gun, it was a failure of the bureaucracy. It also goes to the fact that if a liberal doesn't want a gun, they want all guns banned. If a conservative doesn't want a gun, they don't buy one.

The letter writer is going to have to come up with solutions to the problems and not ramble on like he knows what he's complaining about. In my opinion, “you can’t fix stupid.”

SD lawmakers have forsaken us

I don’t understand the voters of South Dakota and their continued support for Sens. Thune and Rounds and Rep. Noem who continually vote for legislation that harms the vast majority of us.

The tax bill that is now before us raises taxes on most of us in order to give massive tax cuts to Republican donors. This supply-side, trickle-down nonsense hasn’t worked in the 37 years they’ve been reaming us with it. Wake the heck up, people. When the revenues fail to keep up, these Republicans will tell us that they have no choice but to further gut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. What will happen to your grandparents who depend on Medicaid for their nursing home? Your parents on Medicare when it’s cut and they can’t afford their medication or see the doctor? Or when their Social Security check is cut by a third or more? Will you pay their rent? All so the wealthy can have more money?

Your ideas of what is right and wrong are sorely lacking if you vote for Republicans. I’m not sorry if I’m offending you because your poor choices are destroying my family and hundreds of millions more like mine.
