Grandchild's fundraiser truly inspirational
We read and hear of all the devastating events around us with heavy hearts and feelings of hopelessness. I feel compelled to write of a benefit that truly reinforced the good and generosity of mankind. We witnessed an outpouring of love and support of so many wonderful people.
On March 3, the Hills View E. Free Church in Piedmont sponsored a soup supper and auction for our nine-year-old granddaughter, Peyton Raterman. She has been receiving treatment at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital the past five months for osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Peyton’s classmates and teachers at Piedmont Valley Elementary and members of the Shine Kid’s at the church wanted to help their friend in need. They organized an event at the church that was a huge success. Hundreds of people came and thousands of dollars were raised in an awesome demonstration of love and kindness to Peyton and her family.
We will forever be grateful to all who organized and supported this worthy cause as well as to the many businesses and individuals that donated. These beautiful young children initiated an event with love and compassion in their hearts. May God continue to bless them, hold them close, and keep them safe.
