Federal agencies are failing America

More and more folks believe most, if not all, of the upper echelons of the various federal government agencies/departments are either corrupt or politicized or both. The current and ongoing revelations coming out by various inspector generals and some news organizations validate that belief.

Be it the CIA, NSA, DOJ, FBI, IRS or others, it appears they have violated laws or violated individuals' civil rights or violated their own agency/department code of ethics if not all three. The good old boy network, also known as "The Swamp" or "The Deep State," is comprised of politicians, bureaucrats and lobbyists who have been in Washington, D.C. for many years, many of them for decades. Politicians and bureaucrats become lobbyists and lobbyists become bureaucrats and the rotation continues on and on and on. They are reluctant — and many refuse — to prosecute their fellow "Swamp Brethren" for violations of the law.

The question is: what can these agencies/departments now do to restore the trust and faith they once held by the American people? The answer to that question eludes me.

Politicians enabling Trump's dishonesty

I find Republican politicians who are currently aghast at the Trump lies about his relationship with Stormy Daniels ironic. Trump is the misanthrope who claimed that Obama was born in Kenya and maintained that lie for eight years of Obama’s term. The obvious facts are that Trump has almost consistently lied about most political matters for the last 12 years. Anyone with any brains should have grasped that fact by now.

Yet here we are in South Dakota with our two senators sticking their heads in the sand and refusing to call out Trump on his many lies. Our lone representative, now running to become governor, seriously proposes that Trump be added to the lineup on Mount Rushmore.

I think it is becoming clear that thoughtful voters on both sides of the political aisle are deciding that such support of lying individuals is undemocratic and immoral not to speak of bad politics. It is time for all people and politicians to stand up and call out Trump for his numerous lies. Either you stand up for the truth or you will die by the lie. And it is so easy to detect Trump’s lies. If his lips move, you know that a lie is coming.
