Mines signs Beulah, N.D., standout

South Dakota School of Mines and Hardrocker men’s basketball head coach Jason Henry are pleased to announce the addition of Trevor Zacher, of Beulah, N.D., to the hoops roster for the 2013-14 season.

Zacher is a 6-foot-5-inch guard who has been an outstanding player for the Beulah High School Miners. He has earned all-region and all-district honors for three consecutive years, was the North Dakota State Boys’ Basketball Tournament MVP in 2011 and the 2012 Region Player of the Year.

“Trevor can really extend the floor with his ability to shoot the ball from behind the three-point line,” said Beulah Miners boys’ basketball head coach Jeremy Brandt. “He also brings good size at the shooting guard position and very good explosiveness in the open court.”

As a senior Zacher averaged 18.3 points, 6.3 rebounds 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game. He also has had over 100 three-point goals during his high school career, was a member of the 2011 North Dakota State championship team and helped the Miners win 39 games in-a-row over the past two seasons.

Who would you take No. 1?

Who would you take No. 1?

There's been a lot of debate lately as folks feel like Duke's Jahlil Okafor may have played himself out of the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

Does anybody (ever) beat the 'Cats?

Does anybody (ever) beat the 'Cats?

I'm not a fan of Kentucky or John Calipari but I can give the Wildcats the respect they're due.
