Rapid City Stevens Track and Field is hosting TrackFest 2013 and the Rugged Raider 4-mile Obstacle Run on Sunday, April 14 at Sioux Park at 1 p.m.
Trackfest is a track and field clinic and meet for elementary school students as well as a track meet for middle school students.
The Rugged Raider 4-Mile Obstacle Run starts at the Sioux Park track and continues along the bike path east to Founder's Park, before returning to Sioux Park Stadium along the creek on M-Hill and the bike path.
Awards will be given to the fastest male and fastest female as well as to the winning teams in the male, female and co-ed division. Teams must consist of three male and three female in the co-ed division).
Both events are a fundraiser for the Stevens Track and Field team with 25 percent of all money raised donated to Coaches vs. Cancer.

Yellow Jackets named to All-RMAC indoor track team
Black Hills State's Madison McLaughlin, a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference indoor track and field champion, led 10 Yellow Jackets chosen for the All-RMAC indoor team.
McLaughlin was named first team All-RMAC in the weight throw and second team in the shot put.
Also named were junior Paige Follett, who earned second-team honors in the high jump and sophomore Trisha Koch, who was named to the third team in the high jump. Freshman ChyAnna Esau earned third team honors in the 400-meter dash. Senior distance runner Erin Curran’s mile time of 4:58.22 made her an RMAC provisional qualifier as did both of McLaughlin’s marks in weight throw (54-1) and shot put (44-8-3/4).
The Yellow Jackets’ distance medley relay team of Mitch Kraft, Austin Johnson, Justin Bergeson and Laine Parish earned second-team honors, after finishing second at the RMAC Championships in late February.
Junior Johnny Grace earned third-team honors in the long jump as junior Jacob Wilson brought home second-team honors in the high jump.
Douglas Early Bird Meet postponed
The Douglas Early Bird Track Meet scheduled for April 23 at Patriot Stadium in Box Elder has been postponed until April 2. Start time is 1 p.m., with five entries allowed in individual events. Coaches of teams planning to attend the meet are asked to contact Douglas High School activities director Naomi Hatfield at 605-923-0039.
Hanson named Gatorade Player of the Year
Pierre T.F. Riggs High School standout Zach Hanson is the 2012-13 Gatorade South Dakota Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
The 6-foot-9, 240-pound senior forward led the Governors to a 20-5 record and the Class AA state championship this past season. The state’s returning Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year, Hanson averaged 19.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. A first team all-state selection, he’s also a three-time all-conference performer.
Hanson is signed to play for Creighton University in the fall.
SDRA member rodeo set to kick off
The South Dakota Rodeo Association will be kicking off its 2013 season with the SDRA membership rodeo this weekend at the James Kjerstad Event Center in Rapid City. The top cowboys and cowgirls from the area will begin their run at becoming the 2013 champion in their event.
The rodeo is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. tonight and noon on Saturday.
