He also passed for 19 two-point extra points and ran for seven.

His passing and rushing accounted for a grand total of 5,728 yards.

"Connor is a very physical back who defenders don't enjoy meeting in the hole!" Huether said.

The other running back, Lukas Van Laecken of Sanborn Central gained 1,979 yards on the ground and scored 21 touchdowns. He averaged 219.8 yards per game.

This is the third year he has been named to the all-state team.

"Lukas has been one of the hardest working student athletes that I have ever coached," Coach Richard Danek said. "He has put the extra time during the off-season in the weight room, camps and acceleration programs.'

He continued: "He has made becoming a great football player a high priority in his life and he has conducted himself accordingly."

Garrett Whipple, a 170-pound senior gained 1,008 yards at fullback for eight touchdowns. His coach said he is the one player "you want to build your team around."

Viborg's Kevin Danielsen caught 41 passes for nine touchdowns. He set a school record, averaging 14.3 yards per catch.

Danielsen was injured his sophomore year and sat out last year. "He was a huge addition to the team this year," coach John Ohyhaug said.

Tight end Kody Aesoph of Faulkton grabbed nine passes for 56 yards and one touchdown and four two-point conversions.

His coach said "Kody was one of the key members of our offensive line and linebackers."

Guard Andy Price of Dell Rapids St. Mary's helped pave the way for the backs to gain 3,433 yards. He also worked hard in the off-season, his coach said.

The other guard, Jake Meyer of Faulkton, was listed as "a key member of the offensive line, according to his coach. "When we needed tough yards we would run to his side."

Center Wade Oechsle of Hitchcock-Tulare moved up from the honorable mention list last year.
