FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) -- Chas McCormick scored on a groundout in the first inning, leading the Quad Cities River Bandits to a 6-3 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Wednesday.

The ground out started the scoring in a five-run inning and gave the River Bandits a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Abraham Toro-Hernandez hit an RBI triple and then scored on a three-run home run by J.J. Matijevic.

Following the big inning, the TinCaps cut into the deficit in the bottom of the frame when Nate Easley hit a two-run home run.

The River Bandits tacked on another run in the third when Chuckie Robinson hit a solo home run.

Fort Wayne missed a scoring opportunity in the third, when Marcus Greene struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Jesus Balaguer (6-1) got the win with three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Fort Wayne starter Pedro Avila (7-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game. Robert Corniel pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings for his third save of the season.
