The unbeaten Belle Fourche girls' basketball team set up a big matchup with top-ranked St. Thomas More on Tuesday, running past Sturgis 49-38 Friday night in Sturgis.
With the win, the Lady Broncs move to 15-0 on the season.
Belle Fourche led for much of the way, up 33-15 at halftime. Sturgis did bonce back and outscore the Broncs 23-16 in the second half.
"We came out flat coming off that STM loss (Thursday)," Sturgis coach Jordan Proefrock said. "We had a good second half, but you can't come out flat against a good team like Belle."
Shayla Howell led Belle Fourche with 15 points and Mandee Williams added 10. Loralee Stock led Sturgis, 5-9, with 13 points, followed by Olivia Jolley with 11 and Brook Janz with 10.
Belle hosts STM Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., while Sturgis will host Huron on Feb. 3.
RAPID CITY STEVENS 54, SPEARFISH 38: The Raiders broke open a close first half for the win over the Spartans.
Stevens led just 23-22 at halftime, but outscored Spearfish 31-17 in the second half.
Kyah Watson paced the Raiders, 11-2, with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Alexis Kemp led Spearfish, 4-8, with 15 points and five rebounds.
Stevens hosts Scottsbluff, Nebraska, today, while Spearfish hosts Lead-Deadwood Tuesday.
TIMBER LAKE 61, WALL 43: The Panthers pulled away in the fourth quarter to down the Lady Eagles.
Mercede Hess led Wall with 16 points and Cooper McLaughlin added 15 points and nine rebounds. No individual statistics were made available for Timber Lake.
Timber Lake, 10-4, hosts Dupree Tuesday, while Wall, 7-4, is at Lyman today.
RAPID CITY CENTRAL 58, SCOTTSBLUFF 38: The Cobblers moved to 7-7 on the season with the big win over the Bearcats.
No other information was provided.
Central returns to action Thursday at Rapid City Stevens.
STURGIS 63, BELLE FOURCHE 34: The Scoopers outscored the Broncs 35-7 in the first and third quarters to get the win.
Nick Anderson had a big game for Sturgis with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Garland added 14 points for the Scoopers.
Tate Hostetter led Belle Fourche with nine points and Michael Leverington finished with five points and eight rebounds.
The Scoopers return to action Feb. 3 at Huron, while Belle Fourche, 4-11, is at Douglas on Friday.
MCLAUGHLIN 71, TODD COUNTY 57: The Mustangs outscored the Falcons 27-7 in the fourth quarter for the come-from-behind victory.
Aiden Bizarde paced Todd County with 20 points Mark Rogers added 12 points. No statistics were made available for McLaughlin.
McLaughlin, 10-5, hosts St. Francis Indian Feb. 3, while Todd County, 5-9, hosts Stanley County Tuesday.
EDGEMONT 56, HAY SPRINGS 47: The Moguls avenged a loss to the Hawks 10 days ago with a solid win on Friday.
Edgemont trailed by a point after one period and led by eight going into the fourth.
Caleb Simons led the way for Edgemont with 21 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Kaleb Darrow added 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Ryan Simons also grabbed eight rebounds for the Moguls.
Brodey Planansky led Hay Springs with 21 points, while Coy Wolken 10, Anthony Toof added 10 points each.
Edgemont 3-9, hosts Hemingford, Nebraska, tonight at 5 p.m.
RAPID CITY CENTRAL 54, SCOTTSBLUFF 50: The Cobblers held on for the tight win over the Bearcats.
Cameron Hall paced the Cobblers with 15 points, followed by Dylan Hay and Kailleb Walton-Blanden with 12 points each.
Central, 13-1, returns to action Friday at Rapid City Stevens.
