The St. Thomas More volleyball team earned its fifth consecutive win of the season with a tough four-set victory over Lead-Deadwood on Thursday.

The Cavaliers opened the match with a 25-21 win in the first set to take the 1-0 lead. The Golddiggers came roaring back in the second set and tied the match at one set apiece with a 25-19 victory.

STM would answer with a 25-22 third set win, before putting the match away with a 25-11 fourth set victory.

Ameyla Robinson paced the Cavaliers with 37 assists, while Jessica Peterson had 14 kills and Alex Kandolin chipped in with 12.

Skylar Sullivan led the team with 12 digs and Aislin Duffy finished with five blocks.

McKayla Norton led the way for Lead-Deadwood with 30 assists, Carolyn Groeger had 13 kills and Blake Mehlberg finished with 10 digs.

St. Thomas More (12-8) will play at Chadron on Monday, while the Golddiggers (18-8) host Red Cloud on Tuesday.

RAPID CITY CHRISTIAN 3, HILL CITY 1: Rapid City Christian picked up a win over Hill City on Thursday.

The Comets stormed out of the gates to take a two set lead as it won the first set 25-13, before taking the second set 25-13.

Hill City earned some momentum with a 28-26 third set win, but Christian fought back to take the fourth set 25-19.

Rebecca Morgan finished with 32 digs, Riley Freeland led with 19 assists and Kayla Clewley finished with 17 kills.

Rapid City Christian (12-5) will host Philip on Saturday, while Hill City (13-15) is at Hot Springs on Thursday.

CUSTER 3, SPEARFISH 2: Custer won its fourth consecutive game with a five-set victory over Spearfish at home on Thursday.

Despite losing the first set 25-11, the Wildcats battled back to take the second set 25-21, and the third set 25-23.

The Spartans took back the momentum with a 25-12 fourth set win, but Custer closed out the match with a 15-6 fifth set to seal the win.

Kenzie Becker led the Wildcats with 22 assists, while Renee Kirk finished with six kills.

Custer (13-9) hosts Pine Ridge on Saturday, while Spearfish (10-9) is at St. Thomas More next Thursday.

WINNER 3, WHITE RIVER 0: Winner cruised past White River to score a 25-8, 25-13 and 25-10 victory on Thursday.

Addy Root led the Warriors with 34 assists, Abby Marts had 17 kills and Alexis Richey finished with 20 digs.

Quincey Piper paced the Tigers with 16 digs and six kills.

Winner (13-5) will play Elkton-Lake Benton on Saturday, and White River (7-17) hosts Colome on Thursday.
