The Rapid City Rush will be sending forward Dante Salituro to the ECHL All-Star Game in Indiana, Monday Jan. 15 as a member of the Mountain Division team.
Salituro is the third all-star in franchise history. He's scored 11 goals and registered 14 assists for 25 points in 26 games. He's also appeared in two brief stints with the AHL's Iowa Wild this season.
He joins 26 other first time selections and 11 other rookies who were picked to represent their divisions. He is tied for seventh among all ECHL rookies in points (25) and fifth in goals (11).
Salituro joins goalie Shane Starrett of the Wichita Thunder, defenseman David Makowski of the Allen Americans, defenseman Cliff Watson of the Utah Grizzlies, forward Conner Bleakley of the Tulsa Oilers, forward Michael Joly of the Colorado Eagles and Justin Parizek of the Idaho Steelheads on the Mountain Division team.
This is the first time in the ECHL's history that it will have four teams instead of two, similar to what the AHL and NHL have in place. The teams compete on a 3-on-3 tournament to determine the winner.
The tournament and the skills competition will be the same night at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis.
The Rush are back in action tonight in Utah when they take on the Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m.
