HELENA, Mont. - Matt Martin of the University of Montana has been named the Big Sky Conference men's basketball player of the week, the league said Monday.
Martin, a senior guard from Spearfish, averaged 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals per game as Montana went 2-1 at the Cougar Hispanic College Fund Challenge in Spokane, Wash.
He scored nine points with two rebounds, an assist and a steal Friday in Montana's
66-55 loss to No. 9 Washington State. On Saturday, he scored 15 points with four assists and three rebounds in the Grizzlies' 69-57 win over Air Force. He was seven of nine from the free-throw line.
On Sunday, Martin netted 16 points with three steals, two rebounds and an assist in Montana's 69-62 win over Mississippi Valley State.
He shot 54 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3-point range in the three games.
