RAPID CITY - Burch Rodeo Co. of Rozet, Wyo., was honored at the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo on Tuesday night for having the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association bucking horse of the year for 2008.

The bronc, Blood Brother, tied for the 2008 honor and had been in the top three finalists for PRCA bucking horse of the year several times. The horse, now retired, was also named to the top three bucking horses at the National Finals Rodeo multiple times.

Burch Rodeo is providing bucking stock for the 2009 Black Hills Stock Show Rodeo and has provided stock for the Range Days Rodeo at the Central States Fair for eight years. Burch also provides stock for the Days of '76 Rodeo at Deadwood.

Burch Rodeo is operated by Max Burch and sons Matt and Chad Burch. They obtained their PRCA card in the mid-1990s.

The company, starting in the early 1980s, has been among the top three stock contractors in the number of animals going to the NFR in the past few years.

Burch took 11 bucking horses and one bull to the NFR in 2008, behind only the Calgary Stampede and Kesler Rodeo in the number of bucking animals taken to the World Series of professional rodeo.
