PIERRE - Doug Schooley, athletic director at Watertown High School, has been elected to the South Dakota High School Activities Association's Board of Directors. Schooley's term will be commence on July 1 and conclude June 30, 2012.

Mr. Schooley graduated from Yankton High School in 1970, earned his BS degree from USD-Springfield in 1975, and his MS degree from South Dakota State University in 2003. He began his teaching career at Scotland High School in 1975 and moved to Watertown High School in 1985 serving as a teacher-coach for eighteen years. Since 2003 he has served as the athletic director at Watertown High School.

During his coaching career, Schooley served as a board member of the South Dakota Football Coaches Association as well as president of the organization. He was the recipient of the Region II Football Coach of the year five times, the South Dakota High School Coaches Association's Football Coach of the Year five times, the South Dakota High School Coaches Association's Football Coach of the year during the 1996-97 and 2001-02 school years, the SD Sportswriter's Football Coach of the Year in 2001 and the SD Girls Assistant Coach of the Year in 1197.
