OKLAHOMA CITY - Ali K. Papendick, of Rapid City, captured the world champion western riding title at the Ford American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show in Oklahoma City on Friday.

Papendick and her American Quarter Horse Harley D Zip had a score of 241. Harley D Zip is a 13-year-old bay gelding.

In the western riding competition, 108 entries competed for world champion honors. Papendick and Harley D Zip received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold-tone trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, Cripple Creek leather jacket, Professional's Choice product and a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket.

Papendick and Harley D Zip also earned the 2007 Youth Year End High Point Award in western riding. This is the ninth world title that Harley D Zip has earned in western riding. Papendick and Harley D Zip also earned world champion honors in western riding in 2007.

Kerry Papendick, Ali's mother, won a world title on Harley D Zip at the 2007 Bayer Select World Championship Show.

The American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show is the world's largest, single-breed youth world championship show. This is the pinnacle for youth around the world who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to earn the right to compete in each of the 33 classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. With 2,750 entries, this year's event is the largest on record.
