HOT SPRINGS - Hot Springs' Matt Landers scored a pair of goals, including the final one that put the game away, in a 3-1 win over Belle Fourche in prep boys soccer in Belle Fourche.
Landers scored in the 21st minute to tie the game at 1-1, scoring on a header. Cody Harris added the Bison's second goal in the second and Landers put the game away in the 85th minute. Sam Rooks had assists on all three goals.
"We don't have much trouble getting to where we can tee it up," Hot Springs head coach Dave Rooks said.
The Bison outshot Belle Fourche, 24-4, in the rain-soaked game.
Hot Springs (2-4 overall) travels to Sturgis today, while Belle Fourche hosts St. Thomas More on Sept. 20.
SPEARFISH 2, WATERTOWN 2:The Spearfish boys soccer team played Watertown to a 2-2 tie on Friday.
The Spartans fell behind 1-0 after the first half before bouncing back to take a
2-1 lead late in the second half on the strength of goals by Ryan Tollesfrud and Logan Bosler.
Bosler's goal came with about 18 minutes remaining in the second half, but Watertown would get the equalizer with three minutes left.
"We played up and down," said Spearfish head coach Jim Hill. "We had four or five really good chances in the first half and couldn't get the goal."
The tie moved Spearfish to 2-1-1 on the season as it prepares to host Aberdeen Central today at 11 a.m.
CUSTER 8, MITCHELL CHRISTIAN 0: Jake Roddy scored four goals as the Custer boys soccer team bounced back from its' first loss of the season with an
8-0 victory over Mitchell Christian on Friday.
Jake Roddy scored three goals to start the scoring , followed by a corner kick from Travis March to Luke Roddy and a left-footed shot from Tyler Young, which gave Custer a 5-0 lead at the half.
March dribbled through the defense for a goal to start the second half. Sean Morrison scored on a two yard shot and Jake Roddy followed with the final goal from 25 yards out.
"The athletes were very much back and it was good to see the team on a roll," said Custer head coach Craig Black. "The team was excited and had good communication. They were dominant against a young Mitchell team."
Custer (4-1-1) hosts Groton this morning at 11 a.m.
GIRLS
RAPID CITY STEVENS 4, YANKTON 2: Megan Anderson scored a hat trick as Rapid City Stevens defeated Yankton 4-2 for the Raiders' fifth straight win in girls' varsity soccer action on Friday.
The Gazelles scored first, but Haylee Weisgram scored the Raiders first goal minutes later. Striker Taylor Faulkner was instrumental in getting the ball up field to Weisgram and Anderson to earn a pair of assists.
"Our midfield really came together; Yankton put a lot of pressure on us," Raider coach Troy Anderson said. "Weisgram and Faulkner were incredible in the striker role. Their teamwork and work ethic has really opened our game."
The Raiders out shot the Gazelles 28 to 12. Coach Anderson attributed the win in part to play by goaltender Felicia Reimann, who missed the first two games with a hand injury.
"Felicia Reimann has shown great leadership and her presence on the field has made a difference since her return," Anderson said.
Rapid City Stevens (5-2) concludes its weekend road trip with Mitchell today.
