More than 500 entries are expected for the annual Chadron State College rodeo this weekend. The competition will be at the Dawes County Fairgrounds on North Main Street in Chadron at 7 p.m. today and 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.

The contestants will be from colleges and universities in Wyoming and Colorado that join with Chadron State to make the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Slack is also scheduled for 11 a.m. today and 8 a.m. Saturday so all the contestants can compete.

Admission will be $5 per person. Those 12 and under will be admitted without charge. Chadron State students who have a college ID card also will be admitted free.

Dustin Luper, who is in his first year as the Chadron State rodeo coach, said he's pleased with the performances by the CSC contestants at the first three rodeos in the region this fall. Seven CSC entries have placed among the top five in the final standings in their events. Numerous others have been among the 10 qualifiers in the event finals.
