RAPID CITY - Excellent pitching continued in the Rich Hinseth-Merle Bach Agency Tournament Saturday night. Unfortunately for Post 22, it came from the other side of the diamond as Merced, Calif. right-hander Dylan Floro dominated the hard hats striking out 14 in a 9-3 Merced triumph.
Displaying an excellent fastball and nasty slider, Floro scattered six hits in the win.
Floro's effort was considerably aided by a potent Merced offense that pounded out 15 hits in the game off Post 22 starter Brad Horan and reliever Jarrett Jensen. Kyle Singer came in and allowed an unearned run in the seventh.
Joe Medeiras led Merced with three hits including two doubles and drove in two runs. Jerry Leonardo also added two hits to the well-balanced Merced attach.
For the hard hats their only offense occurred in the fourth as Kolton Emery drove in a run with a double and later scored on a John Jarding single. A lone run in the seventh resulted from a couple of Merced errors.
Post 22 (16-13) concludes its tournament action tonight with an 8 p.m. tilt with Cherry Creek, Colo. a game that will be preceded by a game between Cherry Creek and the Post 22 Split Squad at 5:30 p.m.
In other late day action, Wheatland defeated Helena Mont. 4-2 and Merced walloped Cherry Creek 17-2.
