Golf: Three 'Diggers reach top 10 to win invite

BOX ELDER - Four-time defending state champion Lead-Deadwood had three golfers in the top 10 to help the Digger's take home the team trophy at the Douglas Invite on Tuesday.

Dani Bellet and Jenessa Rantapaa shot an 80 and 83 respectively, as Lead-Deadwood topped the team standings with a score of 370. Tassy Rantapaa finished with a score of 103 for the Diggers.

Pierre's Taylor Smalley finished in third place with a score of 84, followed by St. Thomas More's Danielle Kerr in fourth place with a 96.

Erin Cole was the top performer for Spearfish with a score of 97 for fifth place.

In the team standings, Spearfish had four golfers in the top 10, but finished in second place with a score of 401, while Sturgis JV shot 435 for third place.

Lead-Deadwood will take part in the Spearfish Quad on Thursday along with Belle Fourche and Custer. Douglas will play in the Rapid City Triangular, also on Thursday.
