On the boys’ side, Huron (Class AA), Sioux Falls Christian (Class A) and Corsica-Stickney (Class B) all remained atop their respective polls and Aberdeen Central (Class AA), Pine Ridge (Class A) and Newell (Class B) were the No. 1-ranked teams in the girls’ voting.

Three of the top-ranked teams from last week – Huron’s boys in Class AA, Sioux Falls Christian’s boys in Class A and Pine Ridge’s girls in Class A – were defeated but still held on to the top spots in their respective polls. Huron fell to Sturgis by a score of 64-58 on Saturday, resulting in the Scoopers (8-4) picking up their first votes of the season in the poll.

Rapid City Central’s boys picked up a couple of first-place votes and remained in second place in the Class AA ranks after splitting games with Rapid City Stevens and Hull Western Christian (Iowa) last week. Class A St. Thomas More remained in second place in the Class A ranks, but is now tied with unbeaten Madison, which moved up from third place. The Cavaliers received one first-place vote in the poll despite losing to Class AA Sioux Falls O’Gorman, 51-37, on Saturday. Madison received three first-place votes and Sioux Falls Christian took home the other five.

The Rapid City Central girls remained at No. 4 in the Class AA ranks after beating Stevens last week. Pine Ridge remained No. 1 in Class A with seven first-place votes despite falling to Rapid City Stevens 71-63 on Saturday.

The Newell Irrigators (15-0 overall) remained perfect on the season with wins over Black Hills Conference opponents Belle Fourche, St. Thomas More and Hot Springs last week and took eight of the first-place votes available in the Class B girls’ ranks. Unbeaten and No. 2-ranked Ipswich got the other first-place nod.
