STURGIS - Sturgis' varsity girls golf squad played at home for the first time Monday afternoon and defeated Belle Fourche 184-204 at Boulder Canyon Country Club.
Brianna Dodge fired a nine-hole 41 to pace the Scoopers and tie Belle Fourche's Rachel Sacrison for medalist honors. Kelsey Emme and Megan McDougall carded rounds of 43 and 48, respectively, for Sturgis.
The Scoopers received a 52 from Alyssa Gouldin and 55s from Rebecca Clausen and Sienna Mathiesen.
Ashley Watson and Alie Day scored a 50 and 52, respectively, for Belle Fourche. Kaitlyn Gusso (61), Heather Ripley (68), and Amanda Proefrock (75) also represented the Broncs' varsity.
Scoopers' head coach Joe Shetler said it was a beautiful day for golf. He added some of Sturgis' scores were good, and others need improvement. Shetler praised Dodge and junior varsity player Megan Merwin for their efforts.
Belle Fourche put two teams on the course, with varsity and JV players competing together, according to Shetler.
The JV dual ended with Sturgis edging Belle Fourche 203 to 204.
Three players - Merwin, Belle Fourche's Cordelia Bowman, and Belle Fourche's Berlynn Browning - shared medalist honors. All recorded a 46 for nine holes.
Jamie Duprel carded a 50 for Sturgis' JV, who also received a 51 from Taylor Kreutz. Rachel Moken (56), Emily Lynass (56), and Caryln Short (60) also represented the Scoopers.
Belle Fourche also received a 53 from Jennifer Jeitz, a 59 from Melanie Nelson, and a 67 from Celeste Sievens.
Three golfers comprised the Sturgis White squad: Shelby Weisz (53), Morgan Austin (64), and Kelsey Dvorak (65).
