Brad Maxwell in the Family Affair league rolled the first 300 game of his career in the third game at Robbinsdale Lanes.

He rolled games of 245, 165 and 300 for a 710 series. Brad says his attitude toward bowling has changed over the years, as he has gone from bowling many leagues to bowling only two. In this particular league he bowls with his parents and his wife, and on this particular night, his wife was absent. His parents were there, however, to witness his feat.

He was a bit nervous as he approached the 10th frame. However, the balls kept rolling to the pocket for strikes. He let the last ball go thinking that the ball rolled off his hand well, was rolling down the lanes and was turning toward the pocket. If it was a strike, it would be for a 300. If it was not, then it just was not meant to be. When all the pins fell down and perfection was indeed his, he turned around to be greeted by his parents waiting at the end of the lane. It is always nice to be greeted by friends - even more special to be greeted by family - and it is extra special to be waiting at the end of the lane after witnessing an accomplishment by your child - no matter what their age.

Bowling with family and friends is what makes a league fun. Even opponents can cheer you on, and Brad Maxwell knows this. He said it is the people who bowl with you that you remember. If you take all of the criticism away, all there is left is fun.

n There are Web sites that all bowlers must check out. Recently, when I was on bowl.com, there were instructional videos for bowling, including etiquette and spare shooting. There are articles about pro bowlers, lane conditions and tournaments. You can even check out your own information by looking yourself up. It is a worthwhile Web site to investigate occasionally.

Another Web site destined to become popular is our very own rcbowl.com. Our association has been hard at work constructing this Web site, and it has a wealth of information on it. There are tournament results, association members, tools and forms, hall of fames, etc. It has a calendar of events listed in a monthly format, which is nice if you want to look at what is ahead for the next few months. Howard Sharkey has been diligently working on this, and it seems a shame to have all of his hard work go for nothing. So check it out. Maybe we can get a million hits on it.
