Very little went wrong for the University of South Dakota last weekend, and the Coyotes are hoping that continues on Saturday, when the USD football team returns home to face NCAA Division III Southern Oregon University.

USD improved to 4-4 on the season with an 63-0 win over North Greenville last week, a game that saw the Coyotes outgained NGU, 521-101 and record their second shutout of 2008.

A 35-point second quarter outburst proved key for the Coyotes. USD had an interception return for a touchdown by Rapid City native Tyler Spease, a kickoff return for a touchdown by Jeremy Blount, three passing touchdowns by Noah Shepard, and rushing touchdowns from Shepard, Chris Ganious and Matt Lee in the win. Rapid City native Dustin Nowotny also hauled in a touchdown pass in the win.

Shepard was 10-for-12 passing for 125 yards and three scores and Ganious rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Ryan Routh led the USD defense with seven tackles. Ko Quaye had a big game as well with five tackles, including three for a loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The Coyotes catch the Raiders following a bye week. Southern Oregon's last game was on Oct. 25 when it defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor, 40-28 in Ashland, Ore.

Southern Oregon (3-5 overall) is an independent and have posted two consecutive wins.

Brandon Stout led the Raiders in the win over Mary Hardin-Baylor with seven catches for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Marlon Rosales leads SOU with 751 rushing yards and four touchdowns. New starting quarterback J.C. Hunsaker has thrown for 283 yards and three touchdowns in two starts. Darryl Price and Danny Patenaude each have 34 catches to lead the Raider receivers, while Kevin Harrell leads the SOU defense with 54 tackles.
