Luke Carr had 15 points and Terrell Newton added 14 as Huron beat Sioux Falls Lincoln 60-42 Thursday at the South Dakota boys Class AA basketball tournament.

Carr and Newton had seven rebounds each for Huron (19-4), which shot 53 percent from the field and outrebounded Lincoln 36-26.

“We wanted to come out and put them away right away, but they hung around a little bit,” Newton said. “We are seniors and they are a pretty young team so we knew if we were aggressive with them we could take advantage of that.”

Trey Naasz had 14 points and six rebounds for Lincoln (9-13).

SIOUX FALLS O’GORMAN 42, SIOUX FALLS ROOSEVELT 40: Sioux Falls O’Gorman took a seven-point halftime lead and held on to beat Sioux Falls Roosevelt 42-40 at the South Dakota boys Class AA basketball tournament on Thursday.

Cedrick Lang had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (17-5). He was the only O’Gorman player in double figures.

Adol Aluong had 17 points for the Rough Riders (12-10). He had two of Roosevelt’s four 3-pointers. Jared Bartling had 10 points.

Roosevelt trailed 27-20 at the half but got within two points in the closing seconds. The Rough Riders missed a layup with less than a second left that would have tied the game.

ABERDEEN CENTRAL 55, BRANDON VALLEY 47: No. 2-seeded Aberdeen Central took an early lead and used a strong fourth quarter to record a 55-47 win over Brandon Valley in the first round of the Class AA state tournament.

Jared Hannigan hit three

3-pointers en route to 29 points, grabbed nine rebounds and made four steals to lead the Golden Eagles (19-4 overall) in all three categories. No other Aberdeen player reached double figures.

Bryan Brown tossed in 18 points to lead the Lynx. Austin Sumner and Ben Schultz each added 12 points. Sumner completed a double-double with 13 rebounds. Brandon Valley falls to

9-15.
