RAPID CITY - Rapid City's Jennie Malone had 18 kills as South Dakota Mines finished off a weekend sweep in Dakota Athletic Conference play with a 3-1 win over Mayville State on Saturday during college volleyball action at Goodell Gymnasium.
Katherine Hanson added 16 kills and Ashley Kauffman came up with 12 in the Hardrockers' 30-28, 27-30, 30-27, 30-18 victory.
In addition, Malone also had 14 digs and a service ace, Hanson notched 15 digs, three solo blocks and three block assists, and Kauffman tallied 17 digs, three service aces and three block assists.
The Lady Hardrockers got another sound defensive performance from junior libero Jenny Hiykel. The reigning DAC Libero of the Week came up with 35 digs.
Senior Tessa Howe kept the offense moving with 51 set assists, and also added 11 digs and five service aces.
Mines had 60 kills on the night.
Jenny Chamberlin and Alyssa Clancy led the Comets with 13 kills apiece. Brianne Gebeke had 12 kills and Ashley Nelson 11.
Betsy Winkler led the squad with 51 set assists, while Nelson added 24 digs.
South Dakota Mines (13-1, 2-1 DAC) plays at Dakota State on Friday and at Jamestown College on Saturday.
Mayville dropped to 5-10, including 0-3 in the DAC.
