SPEARFISH - This summer Black Hills State University will offer American Red Cross youth swimming lessons at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center. Half-hour lessons will be Monday through Friday for two weeks. Four two-week sessions will be throughout the summer: June 18-29, July 9-20, and July 23-Aug. 3.

Interested persons can register at the Young Center information desk by completing the swim lesson registration form and paying the fee. Registration fees are $35 for non-Young Center members, $30 for Young Center members, and $20 per additional family member. Half-hour private lessons are also available for $15 each.

The Young Center also offers summer youth passes so children can meet their friends at the Young Center to swim, shoot hoops, and have fun. Summer passes, good June through August, are available for $51.

The Black Hills Gold Swim Team practices Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. during June and July. Anyone interested in joining the swim team should stop in at the pool during workout times or email hagerty@rushmore.com.

Summer hours for the Aquatic Center through Aug. 31 are: Mon.-Fri., 6 a.m.-8 a.m. - lap swim; Mon.-Fri., 12 p.m.-1p.m.-lap swim; Mon. and Wed., 6 p.m.-7 p.m. - water exercise; Mon.-Fri., 1 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. - rec/lap swim; and Sat. and Sun., 1 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. - rec/lap swim.

The Young Center is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. The building will be closed July 4.
