Chadron State running back Danny Woodhead and offensive tackle John Strand have both been named to the 2007 Dakotronics Division II All-America Football Second-Team. Both are Nebraska natives and both are seniors.

Woodhead, who won his second consecutive Harlon Hill Trophy on Friday in Alabama for being the most outstanding player in Division II, is a three-time honoree on the Daktronics squad. He rushed for 1,597 yards and scored 21 touchdowns and caught 38 passes for 484 yards and two TDs in 2007. He ends his career as college football's all-time leading rusher with 7,962 yards.

When Woodhead returned to Chadron on Saturday from Alabama, about 150 fans were waiting to greet him at the CSC Student Center.

During a short program, Chadron State College President Dr. Janie Park and head coach Bill O'Boyle informed Woodhead that his No. 3 jersey would be retired. It's the first time in Chadron State history that an athlete's number has been retired.

Strand, who's been a three-year starter and team captain, also earned a spot on the Daktronics second team. CSC coaches said Strand consistently graded out as their top lineman and he was a mainstay on an offensive line that averaged 438.5 yards and 37.5 points each game. Strand will play in the Cactus Bowl on Jan. 11 in Kingsville, Texas.

Mesa State was the only other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference football team represented on the Daktronics squad. Junior placekicker Jared Keating and senior defensive end Kurt Kissner each were named to the first team.
