LEAD - Custer erupted for 25 second-quarter points and went on to conquer Lead-Deadwood 74-54 in a Black Hills Conference boys basketball Thursday night at the LDHS gym.

Jared Foote completed a three-point play early in the second frame as the Wildcats claimed a 20-18 lead. Jacob Roddy converted 3 of 4 free throw tries to give Custer a five-point edge, at 23-18.

Lead-Deadwood stayed within 23-20 when Tanner Adler buried a jump shot.

Shea Koch's inside basket started a 14-3 Wildcat run that featured a trio of Roddy 3-pointers. Roddy's final trey, with two minutes left, pushed the Custer edge to 37-23.

Roddy netted 29 points for Custer (8-1 in the conference, 12-2 overall), which picked up its fifth straight win. He finished with five 3-pointfield goals.

Isaac Parsons chipped in with 14 points for the Wildcats, who host Newell this Saturday. Foote contributed 13 points to the Custer cause.

Lead-Deadwood, which was playing for the third time this week, received 18 points from Adler. The Golddiggers (6-4 in the conference, 8-7 overall) host Douglas next Tuesday.
