PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Cavaliers down Belle Fourche

St. Thomas More recorded a 25-11, 25-18, 25-23 Black Hills Conference victory over the Belle Fourche Broncs in prep volleyball action Thursday night.

Shea Thorson had 23 digs and Treanna Kraft finished with 11 kills to pace the Broncs.

St. Thomas More (17-4 overall, 7-2 BHC) travels to Douglas on Monday and Belle Fourche (8-10, 4-6) plays at Lead-Deadwood on Tuesday.

Douglas 3, Hill City 0: Jordan McCausland directed the offensive attack as Douglas remained undefeated in Black Hills Conference play with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-15 win over Hill City.

McCausland connected on 54-of-54 set attempts and made 25 kill-assists on the night.

Chelsea Edwards led the Patriot attackers with six kills. Kelsey Schwartz had five kills and two blocks.

Mariah Asheim led the Hill City offense with seven kill-assists and served three aces. Amanda Straw paced the strikers with four kills. Patricia Romero recorded one solo block.

Douglas (12-7 overall, 9-0 BHC) hosts St. Thomas More on Monday. Hill City

(4-16, 0-8) travels to Hot Springs on Tuesday.

Hot Springs 3, Newell 1: Hot Springs' Carlie Weiss made 11 kills as the Bison defeated the Newell Irrigators

20-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-23 in Black Hills Conference volleyball.

Carlie Weiss made her presence felt at the net as she also made two solo and four assisted blocks. Mackenzie Anderson aided the Bison defense with 18 digs. Randi Weiss made 20 kill assists.

"We came out slow," Hot Springs coach Stacie Collins said. "Newell has some really strong hitters and they were hitting at us in the first game."

Statistics for Newell were not available.

Hot Springs (14-5, 5-1 BHC) hosts Hill City and Newell (12-10 overall) travels to Harding County on Tuesday.

LEAD-DEADWOOD 3, CUSTER 0: The Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers blanked Custer 25-10, 25-14, 25-17 Thursday night in Black Hills Conference volleyball action.

Lead-Deadwood finished with 37 digs and 28 kills against the Wildcats.

Lead (7-20 overall, 1-7 BHC) hosts Belle Fourche and Custer (10-16, 3-6) travels to Douglas on Tuesday."

EDGEMONT 3, SIOUX COUNTY, NEB. 0: Josie Thomsen was 16-of-16 serving with two aces to lead Edgemont to a

25-18, 25-22, 25-21 win over Sioux County, Neb. in a volleyball match on Thursday.

The Moguls' Lacy Stevens also added six kills and had seven digs in the victory.

"We came out strong and our serving and attacks made the difference tonight," said Edgemont head coach Randy Stevens. "The kids are just having a lot of fun and that makes a huge difference."

Edgemont (19-5) hosts Crawford, Neb. on Tuesday.

NEW UNDERWOOD 3, RAPID CITY CHRISTIAN 1: New Underwood snapped a three-game losing streak with a 25-16, 25-23, 17-25, 25-17 victory over Rapid City Christian in volleyball action Thursday night.

Teri Heavlin led the Tigers with 11 digs, five blocks, five kills and two aces.

Nikki Blumenthal, Alecia Skea and Megan Baker each had two aces for Rapid City Christian.

New Underwood (14-7 overall) travels to Philip on Saturday and Rapid City Christian (7-10) hosts Edgemont on Tuesday.
