Volleyball: Patriots gut out five-set victory

Douglas battled back in the fifth match to earn a final regular season volleyball win against Chadron, Neb., on Friday in Box Elder.

The Patriots won the first two matches, 25-16 and 26-24, but Chadron took the next two games 25-17 and 25-22. Douglas (22-7 overall, 14-0 BHC) responded with a 15-8 win in the final set.

Kayla Miller led the Douglas attackers with 11 kills. Chelsea Edwards added eight kills and three blocks in the win.

Jordan McCausland recorded 36 kill assists and led the team with four blocks on the night.

Brooke Sandmeier had 17 digs and served 13-of-13 to be the team's leading server.

The Patriots will travel to Spearfish to face the Spartans in a District 4AA play-in game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
