Winner's ground game propelled the Warriors to a 50-0 shutout of Stanley County on Friday night in Winner.
The home team rushed for 363 yards on 40 carries while giving up 27 yards on 26 carries to Stanley County.
"Our defense played very well," Winner coach Dan Aaker said. "We knew they were going to try to run and our defense did a good job stopping it."
Jayd Knodell rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns to pace Winner. Knodell also grabbed a 27-yard touchdown pass from Ted Wonnenberg.
Eric Schueth added 74 yards on the ground and two touchdown runs for the Warriors. Tony Littau, Austin Richey and Cody Blare accounted for Winner's other touchdowns.
"It was a good game all around. We got a lot of kids in and we are seeing some depth showing," Aakers said.
Winner (2-0 overall) travels to Mobridge-Pollock and Stanley County (1-1) hosts Chamberlain next Friday.
DOUGLAS 35, CUSTER 14: Douglas' Damon Lappe scored three touchdowns as the Patriots bettered Custer, 35-14, in a Black Hills Conference game Friday at Patriot Stadium in Box Elder.
The game was close in the middle of the fourth quarter, as Douglas led only 22-14. The Patriots were able to fake a punt, and the punter run more than 40 yards to set up a Patriots score.
"They came out pretty physical in the first part of the game and took it to us," said Custer head coach Russ Bailey. "We did a nice job of coming back."
"We've got such a young team right now, and we are still playing like it," Bailey said. "We're young and small, and we have to figure out how to play scrappy. You have to give credit to Douglas. They just got physical and got after us."
Custer (0-2 overall) and Douglas (1-1 overall, 1-1 BHC) are off next week.
MOBRIDGE-POLLOCK 39, HILL CITY 0: Mobridge-Pollock's Dexter Netterville ran in two touchdowns and connected with Peyton Friesz on an 18-yard pass for another as the Tigers shut out Hill City 39-0 on Friday in Mobridge.
Tyler Stricherz recorded touchdowns on runs of 32 and 26 yards. Colton Good Shield found the end zone on a 6-yard run and Dayton Jensen kicked three extra points to round out scoring for the Tigers.
"Mobridge is a quality football team. They are going to be solid in our region. They have a lot of depth," Hill City coach Chad Ronish said. "The game turned out to be a field position battle. We were going into a 20 mph wind and we didn't get out of the shadow of our end zone for the first half and that set the tone for the game."
Cody Skiles led Hill City with 67 rushing yards on 15 carries. Ryan Gimbel made 26 yards on six carries and recorded five tackles. Ivan Hart had seven tackles and one sack to pace the Ranger defense.
Hill City (0-1 overall) hosts Lead-Deadwood next Friday and Mobridge-Pollock (2-0) hosts Winner.
LYMAN 48, WHITE RIVER 0: Dawson Jandreau rushed 17 times for 134 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Lyman Raiders to a 48-0 win over White River in a Western Great Plains high school football game on Friday.
Lyman took a 20-0 lead at the half behind Jandreau's first three scoring runs of the night before Logan Reuman popped a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening kick of the second half.
Reed Reuman, Jandreau and Logan Reuman would all score rushing touchdowns later in the half for the final margin. Lyman rushed for 290 yards in the game.
Lyman (1-0 overall, 1-0 WGPC) will travel to Kadoka next week. White River (0-1 overall, 0-1 WGPC) will host Gregory next week.
BENNETT COUNTY 58, ST. FRANCIS 0: Bennett County was able to get some young players some experience on the field as the Warriors defeated St. Francis, 54-0.
"We got to run through our depth chart a lot and had some good looks," said Bennett County head coach Jeff Krolikowski. "We ran through some young players, and it is fun to get some players some experience."
Wade Porch led Bennett County with 64 rushing yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Austin Haynes added 48 rushing yards and a touchdown in addition to his 157 yards and three touchdowns passing.
Ryan Risse was the leading receiver with four catches for 75 yards, though receivers Grant Strain and Kaipo Heath each had two and one touchdowns, respectively.
Bennett County (1-1 overall) will be at Red Cloud on Friday.
HOT SPRINGS 14, MADISON 12: Hot Springs was able to hold on and edge Madison, 14-12, in a game Friday at Hot Springs.
"We just put it all on the line and put it on their plate in the second half and they stepped up," said Hot Springs head coach Ben Kramer. "We just went up and down the field at will in the second half."
Kramer credited the defense for the win, especially defensive back Chris Housley, who was able to hold Madison's best receiver to no catches. Housley also caught an interception late to seal the game.
Matt Harkless scored both of Hot Springs touchdowns, on runs of 40 and five yards, respectively.
Hot Springs (1-1 overall) will travel to Belle Fourche on Friday. Madison (0-1) will travel to Sisseton on Friday.
SULLY BUTTES 52, HIGHMORE-HARROLD 6: Hayden Handcock went 10-for-12 for 217 yards and five touchdowns to lead Sully Buttes to a 52-6 win over Highmore-Harrold in Class 9A football Friday in Onida.
Handcock's favorite target on the night was Tate Senftner, who caught six balls for 150 yards and four touchdowns.
The game was close after the first quarter at 8-0 before Sully Buttes put up 32 second-quarter points to take a 40-6 lead into the half.
Dylan Van Bockel had a 60-yard fumble return for the Chargers (2-0 overall), which will have a bye next week.
Highmore-Harrold (0-1) will host Sanborn Central next week.
MOORCROFT, WYO., 22, SUNDANCE, WYO., 14: Moorcroft's D.J. Haklin carried the ball 39 times for 180 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wolves to a 22-14 high school football win Friday night over Sundance.
The Wolves (1-0) racked up 220 yards of rushing on the night in the win. Sundance took the lead, 7-0, in the first quarter before Moorcroft started churning out the yards on the ground.
Moorcroft held Sundance (0-1) to 97 total yards of offense on the night. Albert Lennerville led the Bulldogs with 55 yards rushing on 13 carries.
Sundance, a Class 1A team, will travel to play Southeast next week, while Moorcroft, a Class 2A squad, will host Newcastle.
