CHADRON, Neb. - Two Chadron State College football players have been placed on the Daktronics All-Southwest Region first-team that was announced Wednesday.
They are tailback Danny Woodhead and offensive tackle John Strand. Both are seniors.
Three more Eagles made the second-team. They are offensive tackle Ben Puffer, a sophomore from Hot Springs, defensive tackle Aaron Ide and Paul Schweger.
Woodhead also was a first-team all-Southwest Region choice in 2004 and '06 and was placed on the second team in '05. He was the leading voter-getter at running back this year, edging Xavier Omon of Northwest Missouri State and Bernard Scott of Abilene Christian, who tied for second.

Four more Abilene Christian players were first-team choices. They are wide receiver Johnny Knox, offensive linemen Sam Collins and Nathan Young and linebacker Cody Stutts. Quarterback Billy Malone was a second-team selection.
In addition to Omon, two Northwest Missouri players made the Southwest Region first-team. They are offensive lineman Reid Kirby and linebacker Jared Erspamer. Placed on the second-team was tight end Mike Peterson.
Three players from Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools also were first-team choices this year. They are placekicker Jared Keating and defensive end Kurt Kissner of Mesa State and punter Wayne Dunham of Adams State.
