FORT COLLINS, Colo.-Black Hills State and South Dakota School of Mines wrapped up the Jack Christiansen Invitational with impressive performances, including a record-setting performance from a Yellow Jacket thrower.

Black Hills' Aubrey Baxter finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of approximately 199 feet, 10 inches, which set a school record as well as a state collegiate record. Baxter also qualified for nationals in the discus throw with a mark of 151-1 and earned first place in the shot put with a throw of

51-1.

Teammate Amber Brodersen had a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 43-4.

Lady Hardrocker Katrina Donovan finished fourth in the javelin throw with a toss of 85-5.

In team standings, the Yellow Jackets scored 36 points and finished fifth, while South Dakota School of Mines tallied 10 points.

On the men's side, Yellow Jacket Eric Flores was a double event winner, earning first place in both the shot put (55-10) and the hammer throw (197-2).

Flores finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 152-7 and became a provisional national qualifier.

Black Hill's Jason Boeding placed sixth in the hammer throw.

South Dakota Tech's Chandler Caldwell cleared 15-7 to take home first place honors in the pole vault event.

"Eric, Aubrey and Jason are very solid in all three events and that's rare," said Black Hills State head coach Scott Walkinshaw. "I'm very pleased with the performances and we're coming around at the right time."

South Dakota School of Mines and Black Hills State travel to Jamestown on Friday for the DAC meet.
