MURDO - No. 2 White River and Jones County both picked up semifinal wins in the Jones County Invitational on Friday. The Tigers stopped Lyman 64-53 as Louie Krogman tossed in a game-high 23 points.
Jones County went an impressive 20-of-25 from the free throw line to upend Kadoka Area 58-52.
White River and Jones County will complete the final day of basketball at the 40th annual tourney when they face off in the title game at 8 p.m.
The Tigers will be looking for their 11th title while Jones County has been a runner-up nine times in the tournament.
White River (10-1) led 18-8 and 38-20 at the first two quarter stops in the win over Lyman. Frankie Waln scored 13 and Jake Krogman netted 12 for the winners. Matthew Bartlett grabbed 12 boards while contributing eight points for White River.
Tyler Ollerich scored 13 and David Schindler added 10 for the Raiders who outscored the Tigers 33-26 in the second half.
Kayde Bryan scored 13 points and William Bork had 12 and Austin Koester 10 for the Coyotes in their win over Kougars.
Kadoka led 26-23 at the intermission.
Carter Uhlir scored 17 and Royal Addison added 14 for Kadoka (7-2).
Clint Sasse scored 23 points including four 3-pointers as Bennett County defeated Philip 75-50 to advance to the consolation championship against Stanley County.
Bennett County held a 20-point advantage at halftime (48-28) and continued to build on it throughout the second half.
The Warriors also had double figure performances from Orin Three Stars (16 points) and JP Slattery (12).
Caleb Clements paced Philip with 14 points and Allen Hauk added 10 for the Scotties.
Lyman and Kadoka Area will play in the third place game at 6:30 p.m.
In the fifth place game beginning at 2:30 p.m. it will be Stanley County and Bennett County.
Colome and Philip will start the day's action with the seventh place game at 1 p.m.
