AURORA, Colo. - Rapid City's Mike Brummer just missed qualifying for the USGA Senior Amateur on Tuesday at Heritage at Eagle Bend Golf and Country Club.

Brummer ended up with an even-par 72 at the Sectional Qualifier, missing the cut by a shot.

Greeley, Colo., golfer Bill Boyd earned the USGA Low Qualifying Medal after a round of 3-under 69. Kelly Crone of Littleton, Colo., carded a 70 and got the second spot. Colorado's Scott Radcliffe (Golden) and Brady Hendren (Denver) survived a playoff to earn the final two spots after 71s.

Charlie Post of Castle Rock, Colo., shot 71 but had to settle for the first alternate spot, while Chuck Fisher of Westminster, Colo., is the second alternate after a 72.

Brummer was seventh in the 57-player field.

This year's tournament will be on Sept. 1-6 at Flint Hills National Golf Course in Andover, Kan.

Brummer, the two-time defending SDGA Senior champ, qualified for the 2005 Senior Am. and ended up making it to the second round of match play. He missed last year's tourney due to injury.
