MINNEAPOLIS - Allen Wood and Cody Bordewyk finished in the top 20 as the Black Hills State men's cross country team finished third at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday.
Wood finished fourth with a time of 25:38. Bordewyk placed 17th in 26:34. Kristjan Hunter of Manitoba, Canada won the men's race in 25:27.
The Yellow Jackets tallied 155 points for third place which is the highest finish ever for the team at this meet.
Minnesota State Mankato won the Maroon II division team competition with 110 points. Minnesota-Duluth came in second with 132 points. Augustana took fourth with 182 points.
In the women's race, Augustana placed three runners in the top 10 and claimed the team title with 69 points, 76 points better than Nebraska-Kearney.
Rachel Stangler was second, Molly Clark placed fifth and Jillian Tholen grabbed eighth for the Vikings.
Wendy O'Lexey was the top finisher for the Yellow Jacket women with a ninth place time of 23:14. Kerry Washburn finished 11th in 23:21 for BHSU.
USD's Ramsey Kovan won the race in a time of 22:09. Kovan, from Yankton transferred from Notre Dame to Vermillion.
Black Hills finished eighth in the team race with 225 points.
Black Hills State hosts the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club next Saturday at 9 a.m.
