Volleyball roundup: Chargers extend win streak

SELBY - Kylee Lamb had a big match, and the Sully Buttes Chargers overcame a loss in Game 1 to defeat Selby Area for their 18th consecutive win Tuesday.

They won by the scores of 15-25, 25-10, 25-15 and 25-20.

Lamb had 13 kills, 17 digs, six blocks and four service aces.

Cassie Brandt added seven kills, and Hannah Handcock had six kills and three aces for the Chargers. Amanda Sieck had 11 digs and four blocks, Kayla Stough added 11 digs and Elizabeth Lamb had 32 set assists.

Ashley Schlomer led the Lions with eight kills and 17 digs, and Jennifer Dumdie added five kills, 22 digs and a block.

Sully Buttes (21-3) plays at James Valley Christian on Friday.

Selby Area (17-9) closes out the regular season at Ipswich on Monday.

Timber Lake 3, Faith 0

TIMBER LAKE - Timber Lake needed only three games to down Faith on Tuesday night in a Little Moureau Conference volleyball match as the Black Panthers prevailed 27-25, 25-23, 25-10.

Timber Lake collected 27 kills and 10 aces as a team.

Robin Bickel had five kills and four blocks and Becky Maher tallied five aces for the winners.

Meagan Mettler had 17 assists to lead the Black Panthers in that category.

Timber Lake (14-13) will close out its regular season with a match in Gettysburg on Friday against the Battlers.

South Central 3, White Lake 1

BURKE - South Central beat White Lake 23-25, 25-9, 26-24, 25-21 in a high school volleyball match Tuesday.

Cheyenne Lambley led the Cougars with 13 kills. Mandy Baxa added 18 digs and five blocks, and Nicole Green had two service aces.

Sarah Konechne had a solid game for the Wolverines, posting 16 kills and seven blocks. Kendra Hanten notched 19 digs and Kelsey Suelflow had two aces.

South Central (9-12) plays in the Southeastern South Dakota Conference tournament on Saturday in Gregory. White Lake fell to 10-11 with the loss.

West Boyd, Neb. 3, Gregory 2

GREGORY - West Boyd, Neb., needed all five games to spill Gregory in five games,

20-25, 25-19, 25-18, 16-25, 15-3 in a non-conference volleyball match on Tuesday night.

Chaney Black led the visitors with 12 kills, while Ashley Hostert added nine for the winners. Hostert also added four aces and 19 digs.

Alex Duling played big for Gregory, as she tallied 16 kills, 15 digs and 14 assists.

Kaira Kruse added 10 kills and 17 digs, while Mindi Arizmendis dished out 19 assists in the match for Gregory.

Gregory (10-10) will travel to play Chamberlain on Friday.

LATE MONDAY

Hoven 3, McIntosh-Isabel 1

MCINTOSH - After dropping the first game, Hoven

rebounded to beat McIntosh-Isabel 22-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-18 in a high school volleyball match Monday.

Chelsey Abler led the Greyhounds with seven kills and two blocks.

Erin Loeb led the Cowboys with 10 kills and three service aces. Alicia Nehl added four kills.

Ashley Hoffman had 17 set assists and LaNay Jung added 15. Both players also tallied four aces.

McIntosh-Isabel (9-15) hosts Tiospaye Topa on Tuesday to close out the regular season. Hoven improved to 8-11 with the win.

Wall 3, Sturgis JV 0

STURGIS - Wall swept the Sturgis junior varsity in a high school volleyball match Monday.

Muriel Kjerstad had 11 kills and Katrina Kjerstad added eight kills. Both players also had a solo block.

Kaylee Gallino notched 22 set assists and three service aces, while Katelyn Crown tallied nine digs and three aces.

Wall (24-3) hosts New Underwood on Friday.
