RAPID CITY - This Fall Blizzard of '08 moved east on Friday, but the aftermath is still wreaking havoc in the local college sports scene this weekend.

Because of an undetermined time for the reopening of Interstate 90 in western South Dakota, Saturday's gridiron clash between South Dakota School of Mines and Black Hills State University has been postponed to Sunday at 1 p.m. at O'Harra Stadium.

"The state department of transportation hasn't been able to give us a definite time for the interstate to re-open, so we decided to make it easy on the teams and push the game back one day," said Mines sports information director Brad Blume.

In the meantime, the South Dakota Mines women's volleyball team remains stranded in Spearfish following Wednesday night's regular season-ending matchup with Black Hills State.

As it turned out Mines is the opening opponent for Black Hills in the first round of Dakota Athletic Conference volleyball playoffs, which will be played in Spearfish tonight at 7 p.m.

"Coach (Beth) Honaker said the girls have been going stir-crazy at the motel," Blume said. "They had to go to Wal-Mart to buy a change of clothes."

Additionally, travel worries have pushed today's college basketball matchups between Mines and Mount Marty College to Monday.

The women's game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m., with the men's game at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, the Black Hills State women's basketball team plays Mount Marty at 2 p.m., with the BHSU-Mount Marty men's game following at 4 p.m.

The DAC Cross Country Championships originally set for Madison on Saturday have been rescheduled for Sunday. The women's race is at 10 a.m. and the men's race is at 11 a.m.

"It looks like we'll get all of the sports events in this weekend," said Blume. "It's just a matter of how and when."
