Augustana's Dustin Rice was recognized by the North Central Conference for his performance in the Vikings' 44-18 victory over St. Cloud State.
Rice, a senior defensive back from Lead, was honored as the NCC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. He had seven tackles, including five solo stops. He broke up a pass and returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown. He also blocked a punt.
Rice's interception was his third interception for a touchdown this season and sixth in his career. It helped him tie the NCC single-season record for interceptions for a touchdown at two and set a new career record at three. He also returned a pick for a touchdown against Minnesota Duluth in 2004. The Vikings will be at home Saturday to take on South Dakota. Kickoff is set for noon at Howard Wood Field.
